Reason For St Mirren vs Livingston Predictions

  • St Mirren has conceded five goals in their last two home games, scoring just once.
  • Livingston has only won one of their nine away days this season.
  • Both teams have scored in eight of Livi’s nine away fixtures this season.

The Saints struggle at home

St Mirren picked up their first away win of the season over the weekend as they defeated relegation rivals Hamilton 1-0, allowing the Buddies to push up to 9th place in the Premiership table. Now, the hosts aim to get back to winning ways on home turf, where they’ve lost their last two fixtures.

The Buddies have struggled to pick up points in general at home, fueled by the fact they’ve conceded at least once in four of their eight games so far, repeating that same stat for the number of times they’ve managed to score- although they’ve netted at least once in three of their last four matches. Jim Goodwin’s side has also scored an average of 1.25 goals in their last four home games, but they’ve also conceded five times in their last two.

Winless Livingston on their travels

Livingston also comes into this match with a victory under their belts for the first time since their shock win over Celtic at the start of October. The West Lothian club had gone on to lose four and draw four until their most recent result. Moreover, Livi has only won once in their nine games on the road.

Gary Holt’s side seems to totally change on their travels too, with their usual defensive solidity disappearing in these games. Livingston is yet to keep a clean sheet away from home but have scored at least once in eight of their last nine away matches. However, the Tony Macaroni Arena outfit has let in an average of 2.11 goals on their travels and have conceded at least twice in six of their last seven.

Both sides on a level playing field

Both teams come into this game on the back of important wins for their respective relegation battles and they’ll be eager to grab another three points. However, we feel that a draw seems like a good shout here, as St Mirren are winless in their last couple of home games and have let in two goals on average in their last three whilst also netting 1.25; and Livingston has drawn two of their last four away trips. We’re also backing a final score of 1-1, taking into account the aforementioned goals stats for St Mirren as well as both teams scoring in eight of Livi’s nine away days.
