      St Mirren vs Morton Predictions

St Mirren’s hope for a speedy return to the Scottish Premiership isn’t going to plan so far. After finishing rock bottom in the top flight last season, they have continued their poor form into this season.

They began the season with a 3-1 defeat to Rangers, and their overall points haul stands at a measly ten points from their opening 13 games.

This leaves them level on points with 9th placed Dumbarton, a position that brings with it a dreaded relegation playoff at the end of the season.

These ten points have come from two wins and four draws, with seven defeats coming along to make up their 13 matches.

St Mirren have lost their last three games, and now come up against a side in good form at the moment.

Morton have won their last four Scottish Championship matches on the bounce, with a 1-0 win over Alloa Athletic ending their four match losing streak.

This good form has seen the visitors move up to 4th position in the table, but they have played more games than all but one team in the league.

3rd placed Falkirk sit eight points ahead of them with a game in hand, whilst Raith Rovers only trail them by a point and have two games in hand.

These two sides met back at the end of August, with their first competitive meetings since 2013 ending a goalless draw. This makes it one draw, one win for Morton, and three wins for St Mirren in their last five meetings.

Morton haven’t exactly been scoring freely this season, with their good form being based largely on solid defensive performances. Five of their last six games have ended with under three goals scored.

St Mirren have seen under three goals in four of their last six, but the ones that have been goalfests have been down to St Mirren’s disastrous defence.

This makes an Under 2.5 Goals bet look promising, as I don’t see the visitors taking full advantage of the hosts’ defensive vulnerabilities. Odds of 17/20 for Under 2.5 Goals look good value as well.
