Valur Rejkjavik Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Valur have lost just three of their last 19 matches and were the better team in the first leg, racking up nine shots on target in Reykjavik. Home advantage is unlikely to help St Mirren as they are winless in four on their own patch and the visitors could take this.

Valur Rejkjavik 1-0

Reason for tip

Last week’s first leg was a cagey affair so it seems likely a single goal will be enough to decide the tie. Valur were strong in the first leg but they were wasteful in Reykjavik too, suggesting a 1-0 win for the visitors could be the best correct score bet here.

St Mirren vs Valur Rejkjavik Predictions

  • St Mirren earned a 0-0 draw in Reykjavik last week
  • The Saints are winless in their last four competitive home matches, losing three times in that run
  • Valur have lost just three of their last 19 games, although they were thrashed 4-1 by Fram in the Besta deild karla on Sunday

Saints set for tough test

St Mirren will be happy heading into this game on a level playing field having earned a 0-0 draw in Reykjavik last week, but home advantage may not be enough of a boost to see off their Icelandic visitors on Thursday.

The Saints are winless in their last four competitive home matches and have lost three times in that run, suggesting Valur are unlikely to be nervous ahead of their trip to Paisley.

The visitors will need to put their heavy 4-1 defeat to Fram on Sunday behind them quickly, but they have impressed in the Conference League this term, winning 4-0 away at Vllaznia Shkoder in the previous round.

That loss was a shock too, given Valur had lost just two of their previous 18 matches, so backing them to hold their own in Paisley could be a profitable play.

Valur vying to make up for missed chances

St Mirren will be fancying their chances of progression with the score tied at 0-0, but they are arguably fortunate to even be in with a shot.

Valur had 56 percent of the ball in Reykjavik last week, registered an impressive nine shots on target and racked up eight corners. Additionally, if they had not been reduced to ten men in the 81st minute and been forced to sit in they may have gone on to win the first leg.

The hosts are favourites for this tie, but based on the first leg and current form, backing the visitors in the double chance market could be the way to go.
