St Patricks vs Longford Predictions
- Second placed St Pat’s have won four of their last six league games.
- The hosts have won ten of their 12 starts at Richmond Park this term.
- Bottom side Longford have won just one of their 25 league matches, losing 16 including each of their last four.
- St Pat’s won 3-0 and 3-1 in this season’s previous two meetings.
Town set for another pasting at St Pat’s
St Patrick’s Athletic have work to do in the title race after a 3-1 defeat at Finn Harps last time out but they should comfortably get back on track when they take on basement boys Longford Town at Richmond Park.
St Pat’s loss last time out leaves them three points behind leaders Shamrock Rovers having also played two games extra, though they are in decent nick overall in the context of this match-up having won four of their last six.
Alan Mathews’ side have won each of their last five outings at Richmond Park and ten from 12 overall this season, including a resounding 3-0 success over Town in April.
St Pat’s eased past Longford again in June with a 1-3 victory on the road and we can’t see anything other than a cosy home victory this Friday.
With just one win from 25 games and a meagre 11 points on the board, hapless Town are all but relegated and they travel to Dublin having lost their last four including a 4-1 thumping at Waterford a fortnight ago.
We expect St Pat’s to cover a one goal handicap once again in this fixture and we’re also opting for a 4-1 correct score, as Town have at least managed to net in five of their last six away trips.
