Defensive deficiencies should ensure goals flow at Nadderud

Stabæk host newly-promoted Tromsø in the seventh round of the Norwegian Eliteserien on Monday with both sides on five points, although the visitors have played two games more.

The Blue Ones finished comfortably in mid-table last season and the start they have made to the 2021 campaign suggests a similar finish could be on the cards.

Jan Jonsson’s men began with two draws, 2-2 at home to Odd and 0-0 at Haugesund, before notching their first win of the season against Brann.

They then suffered a 4-2 reverse against Rosenborg that showed up a few defensive cracks that Tromsø will be looking to exploit at Nadderud Stadium.

The Boys enjoyed their return to the top-flight with a thrilling 3-3 draw against champions Molde in the second round and picked up a win at Viking a few days later, albeit without dominating the game.

But results have taken a turn for the worse for them since with only one point collected – and six goals conceded in their last three contests.

Defensively they look shaky and Stabæk should be able to find a way through on Monday when they step out on the grass at Nadderud.

Goals have been at a premium when these two sides have met recently with their last five clashes averaging only 1.6 goals per game.

But goals have been plentiful for both these teams this term and we think it’s best to take the Over 3.5 goals bet here.

Two of Stabæk’s four matches have had at least four goals in, and one of them six, while two of Tromsø’s matches have also seen Over 3.5 goals land.

The draw looks tempting to us too with 2-2 – a score that the hosts recorded against a similar-strength Odd outfit last month – the favoured correct score play.
