We use stars to rate our confidence in our tips, with 3 being most confident to 1 being the least.
Walsall 1-0 @ 13/2

Reason For Stevenage vs Walsall Predictions

  • Stevenage have failed to score in 10 of their 17 games at home this season.
  • Walsall have netted at least one goal in 12 of their 17 fixtures on the road but have only scored more than once in five of those matches.
  • The Boro have conceded 1.29 goals at home, whilst the Saddlers have netted 1.12 times on their travels.

Boro remain at the bottom

Stevenage suffered their seventh consecutive defeat in the league as they were beaten 2-0 by Crawley Town, further cementing their place at the bottom of the table. The Boro are now nine points off safety.

The club’s home record is also the worst in the division and they’re also winless at the Lamex Stadium since the end of October, picking up just four points in their last nine games. Stevenage also struggle for goals on home turf, as they’ve failed to score in 10 of their 17 home ties and average a measly 0.59 goals. Things aren’t any better in defence, where they’ve let in at least one goal in 12 fixtures, conceding an average of 1.29 goals.

Visitors in good form

Walsall come into this game having failed to lose any of their last four league matches, picking up two wins and two draws. The club now sits comfortably in the middle of the table and will want to improve their overall away form- currently the seventh-best in the league.

The Saddlers have won five of their last nine away days, picking up 17 points from those fixtures. However, Darrell Clarke’s side is one of the lower-scoring teams on the road, as they’ve scored 1.12 goals on average on their travels, netting at least once in 12 of their 17 away ties, with their backline not fairing any better and conceding 1.35 times per game.

Hosts to stay in losing form

Stevenage desperately need a win here if they’re to kick-start their quest of surviving the season, but it’s a tough task for a side that’s currently on a seven-game losing streak that rarely scores and keeps a clean sheet at home. Their opponents are cruising in mid-table right now and they’re also unbeaten in their last four ties and currently have one of the better away records in the league.

We’re going to back Walsall to win to nil here, as the hosts have failed to score in 10 of their 17 home ties and have also conceded in 12 of them, with the Saddlers scoring at least once in 12 of their 17 away days.

As for the final score, we’re expecting a low-scoring tie, so a 1-0 win for the visitors is a good shout here. Despite being bottom of the league, the hosts have conceded just 1.29 goals at home, with Walsall also netting a low average of 1.12 goals on their travels and have only scored more than once on five occasions.
