Stoke vs Wolves Predictions
Watford managed to break out of their winless streak on Tuesday with a 2-0 victory over Watford at home. Prior to that they had failed to win five matches on the bounce, losing three of them.
To be fair they have had an incredibly tough festive period though, with trips to Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea all ending in defeat and home draws against Southampton and Leicester making up their games since the middle of December.
Stoke have managed to come out of the other side of that mainly intact though, so now they can look forward to the rest of the season and try to improve on their 11th placed standing. With no real threat of relegation and not much of a chance of European football either that leaves a lot of the focus on the FA Cup, so we can expect as strong a squad as available on Saturday.
Wolverhampton won’t be making any drastic alterations either, despite their rather precarious position in the Championship. Their goalless draw at Sheffield Wednesday on Monday made it 29 points from 25 games and leaves them in a disappointing 16th position in the table.
They have improved recently, winning three of their last seven after a dreadful nine match winless streak. However, they have still lost two of these seven games and definitely have a lot of improvements to make before they can challenge for promotion.
I can’t see them getting a win here either to be honest. They have only won two of their last ten away days in all competitions and are facing a Stoke side who have won four, drawn three, and lost just one of their last eight at home.
Stoke definitely have the advantage here, but I think the visitors can find the net. Stoke aren’t the same defensive side as we’re used to seeing, as is evident by the fact they have conceded in eight of their 12 home games this season. Wolves have scored in nine of their 14 on the road too, so odds of 10/11 for Both Teams to Score looks a good prospect. In the end I expect Stoke to triumph though, so I’m backing a 2-1 correct score predictions at 15/2.
