Strasbourg target European qualification

Strasbourg have enjoyed success in seven of their last nine home games in Ligue 1, and the best bet is a win for Liam Rosenior’s side when they host Le Havre on Saturday.

They are sixth in Ligue 1, ten places and 26 points above Le Havre, with 16 wins from their 33 games this season. Le Havre have nine wins and sit 16th.

It’s going to take a lot for Strasbourg to get Champions League football as realistically they need Nice and Lille to both drop points due to their inferior goal difference, but some kind of European qualification appears guaranteed with Lyon provisionally relegated to Ligue 2 due to financial difficulties.

Strasbourg are unbeaten in their last ten home games in Ligue 1, with two wins in a row.

It has been profitable backing Strasbourg at odds-on this season, with nine wins from 15 games resulting in a 3.89-unit profit. They are the most profitable team in Ligue 1 this season, showing a profit of 8.94 units.

Le Havre’s recent results have been a mixed bag, with two wins, one draw and three defeats in their last six outings. They beat Auxerre 2-1 at odds of 21/10, but also lost to second-placed Marseille, Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain and Rennes.

The visitors are looking vulnerable at the back. Le Havre have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last five Ligue 1 games and in 20 of their last 21 matches.

Strasbourg may be able to edge out Le Havre in a close game, with a 2-1 home win the correct-score pick. Six of Le Havre’s last eight Ligue 1 games have featured three goals or more and Strasbourg have won eight of their league games this season by the odd goal.

A point makes sure of Conference League qualification no matter Lyon’s future, but Rosenior’s side will want to do everything possible to get a win which might secure a place in the Europa League, or possibly even the Champions League.
