Strasbourg vs Troyes Predictions

Strasbourg and promoted Troyes have endured tough starts to the new season and both teams go into Sunday’s fixture still seeking their first points.

Troyes gave a good account of themselves in a 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain and then lost 2-0 at fellow promoted side Clermont, having been reduced to 10 men just after the half hour mark. Strasbourg lost at home to Angers and were then beaten 4-2 by PSG in Paris. 

The visitors look excellent value to pick up a first win of the season in this match-up given Strasbourg’s current home run.  The defeat to Angers means they have now lost five of their last six home games in Ligue 1, drawing the other.  Troyes had the best away record in the second tier last year and the way they competed against PSG suggests they can handle the step up to the top flight, and they were well in the game at Clermont until Issa Kabore was shown his marching orders. 

Despite Strasbourg’s poor run at home they have only failed to score in one of their last six games at the Stade de la Meinau so a 2-1 win for Troyes is my correct score bet.
