Stromsgodset vs Aalesund Predictions & Betting Tips, Match Previews

Stromsgodset put in a fruitless challenge for the Norway Eliteserien title last season, but ultimately were beaten to the posts by the dominant Rosenborg as they finished 12 points ahead of Stromsgodset in 2nd.

The title holders look set to continue their dominance of the league this season as well, whilst Stromsgodset are facing eviction from the top three by the improving Odd and Molde. The hosts come into this match in 4th position in the table, a point behind Molde in 3rd and four adrift of Odd in 2nd. Rosenborg, meanwhile, lead Stromsgodset by nine points already.

Stromsgodset started the season a bit shakily as they lost two, drew one, and won one of their opening four Eliteserien matches, but they quickly found their feet and have proved to be a very good side since. They have only lost twice in all competitions since a defeat to Tromso in April, and both have been away to top three sides as Molde and Odd both beat them.

Overall they have won ten of their last 13 games in all competitions and six of their last nine in the Eliteserien, so whilst they struggle against the top teams they are certainly a difficult match for any other team in the division.

Aalesund come under this category. They have lost four of their last eight in all competitions and only won once, and their five point return from their last six Eliteserien fixtures has seen them drop to 12th in the table. They are only a point outside the relegation playoff position and just two above the automatic drop spots, so it looks unlikely at this point that they will improve much on their 10th place finish last term.

Away from home Aalesund have lost four of their last six Eliteserien matches, and they’re coming up against a Stromsgodset side who have won six on the bounce on home turf and are undefeated since last August. Stromsgodset have managed to keep a clean sheet in half of these six matches, whilst Aalesund have failed to score in four of their six away days this season.

I’m expecting Stromsgodset to win fairly easily on Monday, but it’s just a matter of how convincing the victory will be. My prediction is for them to keep a clean sheet against a side who have only scored twice on the road all season, and odds of 6/4 for Stromsgodset to Win to Nil look excellent value. I’m going for a 2-0 correct score prediction at 7/1 as well.
