      Stuttgart vs Borussia Dortmund Predictions

Stuttgart began their season with a DFB Pokal win over Holstein Kiel, but that was about the only good thing that happened concerning them at the start of the season. They followed this up with five straight defeats and only managed two wins from ten games after their cup success.

They managed to break out of their poor form in order to beat Carl Zeiss Jena in the cup, but then picked up where they left off and only won one of their next six before their next DFB Pokal fixture.

However, their extra time win in their 3rd cup match seemed to light a spark inside them, and since then they haven’t failed to win in competitive football.

Their run currently stands at five wins in a row, and they haven’t lost any of their last seven games in all competitions. This includes wins against Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt as well.

This has fired them away from the relegation zone, and they are now five points clear of the relegation playoff position in the Bundesliga and can concentrate on the DFB Pokal for now.

Borussia Dortmund’s focus will probably be on the cup competitions too. They are eight points adrift of Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and can’t be too confident of the champions relinquishing that lead. Below them they have a ten point cushion over Hertha Berlin.

3rd placed Hertha Berlin managed to hold them to a goalless draw on Saturday, with this result marking the first time Borussia Dortmund have failed to score in domestic competitions in the entire season.

Dortmund may be one of the best teams in the country but they have faltered at times this season, especially away from home.

They have only won three of their last seven away matches in all competitions and have been on the wrong end of defeat three times as well.

Stuttgart’s good form and home advantage gives them a fairly good chance of getting something from this game, and the bookies don’t seem to have cottoned on either. I think odds of 13/8 for a Stuttgart Win or Draw Double Chance are incredible value despite Dortmund’s quality, so that’s what I’m backing along with a 1-1 draw at 15/2.
