Sunderland vs Liverpool Betting Tips

Just a few weeks ago Sunderland looked to be on the road to recovery after their shocking start to the season. They had won three in five matches including wins over arch rivals Newcastle, in form Crystal Palace, and a defensively sound Stoke.

However, their 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City on Boxing Day made it four defeats in a row for the relegation threatened side, and it means they have conceded 11 goals in their last four matches.

This has plunged them even further from Premier League safety, and they are now in 19^th position and seven points from safety.

Liverpool hold 15 more points than their opponents coming into this fixture, with their 27 point total leaving them in 10^th position.

They managed to get a home win over Premier League leaders Leicester on Boxing Day to end their four match winless streak and give themselves a late Christmas present.

Before this victory they had lost two and draw two of their previous four matches in all competitions and were looking low on confidence.

However, the fears brought on by a 3-0 defeat to Watford will have been laid to rest after they became the first team this season to stop Leicester from scoring.

Liverpool do have a number of injury problems to deal with though. They’re expected to be without James Milner, Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Rossiter, Jon Flanagan, Martin Skrtel, Joe Gomez, and Danny Ings.

Despite their injury concerns, with Sunderland in such poor form Liverpool will be confident of picking up another victory on Wednesday, and history is on their side as well.

They haven’t lost to Sunderland since 2012, with four of their six games since then ending in a full points haul for the inconsistent Liverpool.

I am definitely expecting another win for Liverpool on Wednesday, and odds of 7/10 for the away team to pick up all three points looks good value to me. I’m also going for a comfortable 2-0 correct score prediction at 7/1.
