Reason For Sunderland vs MK Dons Predictions

  • Sunderland have lost only one of their ten league matches this season
  • Dons have collected just two points from their six away games
  • Sunderland have recorded all three of their home wins by a single goal, two of which finished 1-0

Stubborn Black Cats should utilise home advantage

Sunderland were dumped out of the FA Cup at home to League Two side Mansfield last weekend but punters shouldn’t look too much into that and they can return to winning ways by beating MK Dons at the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats have lost only one of their first ten League One assignments – they were beaten 3-1 at home to Portsmouth – and they are looking far more consistent under Phil Parkinson this season.

Despite losing to Pompy, Sunderland have utilised home advantage against both league leaders Peterborough and second-placed Ipswich and a repeat of any of those two performances would be enough to sink MK Dons.

The Black Cats sit sixth in League One and, along with Charlton, they boast the meanest defence in the division with just seven goals conceded.

Parkinson’s side have kept clean sheets in six of their ten games and one goal may be enough to get the better of Dons, who continue to perform well on the stats but are not capitalising on their chances.

Dons have won only two of their opening 11 games and they have been troubled on their travels, collecting just two points from their six road trips.

Russell Martin’s side have failed to score in their last two away games at Blackpool and local rivals Northampton and are going to find it far tougher to break down a well-oiled Sunderland outfit.

We predict Sunderland to win 1-0 – all three of their home wins have been a single goal and two of those, against Peterborough and Crewe, were by that scoreline.
