Swansea vs Crystal Palace Predictions
The appointment of Francesco Guidolin seems to have been an inspired choice. He has helped Swansea start to dig themselves out of the deep hole they were in, and they’re starting to look good again.
Swansea had lost eight, drawn three, and won just one out of 12 matches in all competitions until recently, but Guidolin helped Swansea on their way to their first back to back wins since the end of August.
They come into this match on the back of a three match unbeaten streak, with their most recent result being a 1-1 draw at West Brom on Tuesday.
This has moved Swansea comfortably clear of the Premier League relegation zone, but they will need to continue their good run to ensure that they stay away from the drop spots. They are in 16th position in the table with a five point cushion on 18th placed Newcastle.
Crystal Palace enjoyed a very good first half of the season, but their scoring problems have become increasingly evident as their form has dropped off.
They have only scored three goals in their last five matches in all competitions and have been on the wrong end of defeat in four of these matches. The latest of these was a 2-1 loss at home to Bournemouth on Tuesday.
It wasn’t so long ago that Crystal Palace were looking at challenging for a European qualification position in the Premier League, but their poor form has seen them slip down to 12th in the table. They are now only five points ahead of Swansea and ten points above the relegation positions.
Crystal Palace’s lack of goalscoring threat could be a major issue on Saturday. They are facing a Swansea side who have kept three clean sheets in their last four home games and seem to have rediscovered their excellent defensive capabilities. This makes odds of 5/4 for a Swansea Win look very good value to me, and I’m going for a 1-0 correct score prediction at 6/1 as well.
