Swansea vs Southampton Predictions
There might be hope for Swansea yet. After a terrible spell of form left Garry Monk jobless and Swansea in danger of relegation from the Premier League their new boss finally seems to be picking up the pieces.
Francesco Guidolin has managed to put Swansea on a four match unbeaten streak in the Premier League, and their return of eight points from a possible 12 has given them a small cushion over the relegation zone.
Swansea currently sit in 16th position, with four points and 17th placed Newcastle separating them from the Premier League drop spots.
Southampton themselves endured a terrible run of form back in the middle portion of the season. They went on a run of ten matches in which they lost eight games, but fortunately for them their early season good form had put them well clear of the bottom three in the table.
They have finally managed to recover from this poor spell though, and with their defence back in top form again they have now not lost in five matches.
Four of these games have ended in victory for the Saints, and despite facing teams such as Arsenal, Manchester United, and Watford they have managed to keep a clean sheet throughout this run.
This excellent run of results has put Southampton right back in the mixer for a European spot next season. They are now in 7th place in the Premier League, just four points adrift of Manchester United in 5th.
Swansea’s poor attacking form (They have scored under a goal per league game this season) and Southampton’s in form defence doesn’t bode well for the hosts. I think the Welsh side will struggle to create chances, and any they do create will have to get past the wall that is Fraser Forster.
This makes odds of 6/4 for a Southampton Clean Sheet look really good value for money, and I’m also backing an efficient 1-0 victory for the visitors at 6/1.
