Andersson can bow out with a win

After seven years in charge, Janne Andersson is preparing for his final match in charge of Sweden on Sunday but his tenure is likely to go out with a whimper instead of a bang.

Andersson’s departure was confirmed back in September when his side failed to qualify for Euro 2024, having lost 3-1 at home to Sweden.

The search for his successor has begun but the first part of his send-off this international break did not go well on Thursday as Sweden slipped to a 3-0 defeat to Azerbaijan.

They were 2-0 down after six minutes in that game and failed to capitalise on an Azerbaijan red card after the break.

Do not expect goalfest in Stockholm

Indeed, all the incentive in the Sweden camp seems to have evaporated as they play this match as a mere formality and punters should not expect a repeat of their 5-0 win in the reverse fixture in early September.

This should be more closely contested and while Sweden will likely justify favouritism, the better bet is under 2.5 goals, which has clicked in each of Estonia’s last three matches.

In terms of a correct score pick, Estonia have scored only two goals in Euro 2024 qualifying and are likely to be shut out again, so go for a 2-0 win to the Swedes.
