Telstar vs FC Volendam Predictions
Volendam edged a close encounter between this pair 1-0 when the sides met at Kras Stadion in December, however Telstar are fancied to reverse that result comfortably in this Friday’s return fixture at IJmuiden Stadion. Mike Snoei’s side bagged their seventh league win in ten with a 4-0 battering of Roda JC on Easter Monday, and a similar performance here should be more than enough to see off a Volendam side who are without a victory in 11 starts.
Telstar’s fine recent run came a little too late to put them into contention for the Play-offs, and any faint hopes were well and truly extinguished on Good Friday as Mike Snoei’s side went down 2-0 at Almere City.
Nonetheless, the IJmuiden outfit were not deterred by that result or their overall failure to qualify on Easter Monday as they smashed their way through likely Play-off participants Roda JC 4-0 at home, as the prolific Terrell Ondaan fired in a tremendous double salvo.
It was fantastic to see a team with little to play for give it their absolute all, and there’s little reason to expect anything else from Telstar this Friday as they entertain struggling Volendam.
Telstar ran out 5-2 victors in last season’s corresponding fixture – and this week’s contest should be equally comfortable for them based on their current form and Volendam’s recent woes.
Palingboeren sank to new depths on match day 36 as they were beaten 3-1 by bottom side Jong Utrecht, and they head to IJmuiden this Friday having failed to win any of their last 11 Eerste Divisie games.
Hans De Koning’s men have lost seven in that sequence, and it looks for all money as if De Koning will be replaced before the new campaign. The visitors can’t finish any higher than 16th which has been the case for some time now, and performances over the last few weeks have reflected a real lack of determination in the squad.
They’re unlikely to be up for this one with Telstar firing on all cylinders at present, and we think the hosts are well worth backing for a two point stake. With an easy evening anticipated for Mike Snoei’s charges, we’re also going for a 2-0 correct score.
