The New Saints vs FK Kauno Zalgiris Predictions

BETTING TIP – KAUNO ZALGIRIS +1 HANDICAP

CORRECT SCORE PREDICTION – 1-1 DRAW

  • The New Saints were gifted three goals in five minutes in the first-leg, which they won 5-0.
  • Kauno Zalgiris were the equal of TNS for long spells and hit the woodwork and had a goal disallowed.
  • TNS are solid at home and have conceded just five in their last nine home games.

Lithuanians out to show pride against TNS

The New Saints were in dreamland last week when taking their Europa Conference League second qualifying round tie by storm in Lithuania.

Their 5-0 away win was a club record in European competition and puts them firmly in the driving seat to go through to face Viktoria Plzen or Dynamo Brest.

But there were signs that FK Kauno Zalgiris had got to grips with TNS’ system and figured out a couple of weaknesses before the match was out.

The hosts started brightly but lost their way after missing a good chance to equalise as poor set-piece defending and individual errors allowed Anthony Limbrick’s men to score three in five minutes just before half-time.

But they hit the woodwork and had a goal disallowed after adding a pacy forward off the bench and will surely have a better idea of how to hurt the Welsh Premier Division side in this second encounter.

Both teams to score must be given consideration given both teams have registered in eight of the last nine Zalgiris away contests.

But TNS have kept it tidy at the back in their Conference League campaign so far, conceding just once in 270 minutes of football, and they kept 13 clean sheets in 22 league games last season too.

Instead we’ll take Zalgiris to cover the handicap in the second game because they will be out to show pride and TNS only need to avoid a heavy defeat.

A correct score play of 1-1 appeals based on the balance of play over the majority of the first leg where Zalgiris had more shots, corners and possession than TNS.
