Slow start proving costly for Togo

Consecutive defeats to Togo and Namibia in September have cost Togo dearly in the long run with Les Eperviers now unable to catch runaway leaders Senegal in Group H.

The home side find themselves second but eight points off Senegal with the only qualifying spot from the group out of reach. Togo improved last month taking four points from two meetings with Congo and in their two defeats thus far they have been drawing at half-time.

Perfect Senegal

The visitors are chasing perfection on their way to the third stage of qualifying with four wins from four games heading into this fixture. Senegal followed up wins over Togo and Congo with two victories against Namibia last month via a 7-2 aggregate score.

Les Lions de la Teranga have won eight of their last nine games but a common theme has emerged throughout qualifying.
