Reason For Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United Predictions

  • Tottenham have seen both teams score in six of their seven competitive matches this season.
  • West Ham have scored in each of their last six games in all competitions.
  • Spurs have won four of their last five meetings with West Ham.
  • Heung-min Son has scored six Premier League goals this season.

Confidence rockets at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Tottenham Hotspur entered the international break in as high a spirit as any team after their phenomenal 6-1 destruction of a beleaguered Manchester United side at Old Trafford.

While the Red Devils’ shambolic performance can’t be ignored, Spurs performed brilliantly to capitalise on this and banished the nightmares of their abundance of missed chances against Newcastle the week before.

Prior to that Jose Mourinho’s side had produced another emphatic display with a 5-2 thrashing of Southampton and, with Gareth Bale set to make his second debut for the club on Sunday, Spurs could soon have the most feared trio of attackers in the Premier League.

Son to lead the way on Sunday

While much of the focus will be on Bale’s return to North London, we’re looking in a different direction for our anytime goalscorer predictions. Heung-min Son showed his worth yet again at Old Trafford with a first half brace, taking his tally up to six Premier League goals for the season.

The South Korea international is a real threat with his sky-high workrate and finishing ability, and he looks excellent value to find the net on Sunday.

Resurgent Hammers face tough test

West Ham aren’t exactly in poor form themselves, though. They started the season with two dismal defeats to Newcastle and Arsenal but have since produced comprehensive victories over Wolves and Leicester, scoring seven goals across these two games and raising spirits significantly.

That being said, the Hammers have lost four of their last five meetings with their London rivals and, given Spurs recent scoring form, it could be a very tough ask for them to get anything from this game.

Goals at both ends expected

In any case, what we can expect is an abundance of goals. The Spurs defence still looks incredibly shaky and they are yet to keep a clean sheet in seven competitive fixtures this season. They face a West Ham side that have scored eight goals in their last three games, so backing both teams to score looks good value for money.

With Spurs’ excellent record against West Ham and their recent thrashings of Southampton and Manchester United, we are expecting a win for the hosts. They have scored an average of three goals per league game and have conceded exactly once in three of their four matches, so a 3-1 correct score prediction is our choice.

Tottenham Hotspur injuries and team news

Gareth Bale is in line to make his second debut for Spurs after recovering from injury, while new signing Carlos Vinicius is also available to make his debut.

Eric Dier is a doubt after a hamstring injury kept him out of the England match in midweek, while Steven Bergwijn, Giovani Lo Celso and Japhet Tanganga are all doubts for the hosts.

West Ham injuries and team news

David Moyes is back in the dugout this weekend but remains without the injured Ryan Fredericks, while Arthur Masuaku is a slight doubt for the visitors as well.

Craig Dawson could make his debut after signing on loan this week, with incoming attacker Said Benrahma also a potential for a debut. Fellow new boy Vladimir Coufal will slot in at right back again.
