Turkey vs Greece Predictions
Turkey grabbed hold of automatic qualification to Euro 2016 in the final minute of their qualifying campaign during the last international break.
An 89th minute free kick earned them a win against the in form Iceland, a result which saw them qualify as the best 3rd place finishers with 18 points.
Their excellent run during the latter half of the qualifiers made up for a slow start. They only won one of their first five matches in Group A.
Their final five games saw them win four and draw once, including impressive wins away at the Czech Republic, at home to Netherlands, and at home to Iceland.
Greece have been shocking though, and the Turks will be confident of securing a win against a side drastically low on confidence.
Greece only managed to win one of their Euro 2016 qualifiers, an uncharacteristic 4-3 win over Hungary after they had scored just three goals in their previous 11 outings.
Their draws away to Finland, Hungary, and Romania added to their final game win took their points tally to a measly six. This saw them end at the bottom of Group F, behind the Faroe Islands.
These two sides last met in 2007, with Greece taking a 1-0 win then. But this is a drastically different Greece side to the one we have been watching recently, so I’m definitely not expecting a Greek win on Tuesday.
Turkey have only conceded once in their last seven games as well, which doesn’t look too good for a visiting side who have failed to score in eight of their last 11 games.
These statistics make odds of 11/10 for a Turkey Clean Sheet look incredibly good value, and odds of 7/4 for Turkey to Win to Nil are just as good value. I’m going for a Turkey Clean Sheet and a 2-0 correct scoreline at 13/2.
