Udinese vs Empoli Betting Tips

Since shocking the Italian football world with a 1-0 over defending champions Juventus, Udinese haven’t done much to impress losing 1-0 at home to Palermo and then seeing very little of the ball in a 2-0 loss to Lazio last weekend.

They lost some significant pieces this past summer and there were concerns about the club’s Serie A security heading into the season. We think that there’s enough experience in the squad and defensive structure on the whole to survive in the top flight, but no game will be an easy proposition and the win over Juventus will increasingly look like an apparition.

After generally playing poorly and looking like a team that would struggle to emulate a pretty good 2014-15 Serie A campaign, Empoli impressed earning a hard fought 2-2 draw against Napoli and former manager Maurizio Sarri (and several former players) last weekend.

We still have some doubts about this squad overall. They conceded two goals and the solid defence of 2014-15 doesn’t seem set to carry over into 2015-16. Still, there was a level of compete and battle against Napoli that hadn’t been as evident in the previous two games. Starting on Saturday, they have four games against bottom half opponents, and it should be an opportunity for this team to figure out how good they’ll be.
