      Both Teams To Score

      Reason for tip

Urawa netted consolation goals in each of their two defeats to River Plate and Inter and they can get on the scoresheet against Monterrey, who have seen both teams score in 12 of their last 16 matches.

      Draw 1-1

      Reason for tip

Monterrey were fortuitous in both of their draws with River Plate and Inter, having had a total of only three shots on target, and they could be frustrated by their J1 League rivals, who shared the spoils in three of their six matches in the build up to the Club World Cup

Urawa Red Diamonds vs Monterrey Predictions

      • Both teams have scored in seven of Urawa Red Diamonds’ last eight matches
      • Both teams have scored in 12 of Monterrey’s last 16 matches
      • Monterrey have lost only five of their last 20 matches, drawing both Club World Cup fixtures

Goals to flow in must-win for Monterrey

Monterrey have drawn their first two matches in Group E against Inter and River Plate, but they need a win over Urawa Red Diamonds to have any chance of reaching the round of 16.

The Mexican side are odds-on to come out on top against their Japanese opponents, who have been eliminated following a pair of defeats against River Plate and Inter.

However, Urawa netted consolation goals in both of those reverses and, with both teams scoring in seven of their last eight matches, they are capable of making Monterrey work hard for their rewards.

Urawa hoping to end on a positive note

Urawa, having won only two of their last nine games in all competitions, certainly face an uphill battle to ensure that this tournament has not been a complete disaster.

However, Domenec Torrent’s Mexican outfit have also seen both teams score in four of their last six matches and it is never easy handling pressure in a match you have to win.

Monterrey were fortuitous in both of their draws in Group E, having had a total of only three shots on target, and they could be frustrated by their J1 League rivals, who shared the spoils in three of their six matches in the build up to the Club World Cup. A 1-1 stalemate appeals for a correct-score punt.
