USA find their rhythm

After starting the defence of their CONCACAF Gold Cup crown with an underwhelming draw against Jamaica, the United States burst into life against the Caribbean duo of St. Kitts and Nevis and Trinidad and Tobago, thrashing both nations 6-0 to top Group A and set up a quarter-final clash with rivals Canada.

The Yanks, who have won two of the last three Gold Cups and made the final in eight of the last nine instalments, will be confident of progressing against a Canucks side that haven’t beaten them on American soil since 1957.

Canucks set to pay the price for missing stars

Canada have made huge strides forward over the last few years but the absence of stars such as Alphonso Davies, Jonathan David and Cyle Larin has made for a disappointing showing so far.
