USA to Win

Reason for tip

The United States have lost just one of their last 22 games in this competition and have won two of the last three instalments. They have won 6-0 in successive matches and face a Canada side that haven’t beaten them on American soil since 1957 and are without a host of star players.

Canada are without Jonathan David, Cyle Larin and Alphonso Davies and lost 2-0 to United States just last month. The Yanks have scored 13 goals in three group games, conceding just one, and have won two of the last three Gold Cups.

USA vs Canada Predictions

  • United States have lost just one of their last 22 Gold Cup matches.
  • Canada haven’t beaten the United States on American soil since 1957.
  • Jesus Ferreira has scored successive hat-tricks in this competition.

USA find their rhythm

After starting the defence of their CONCACAF Gold Cup crown with an underwhelming draw against Jamaica, the United States burst into life against the Caribbean duo of St. Kitts and Nevis and Trinidad and Tobago, thrashing both nations 6-0 to top Group A and set up a quarter-final clash with rivals Canada.

The Yanks, who have won two of the last three Gold Cups and made the final in eight of the last nine instalments, will be confident of progressing against a Canucks side that haven’t beaten them on American soil since 1957.

Canucks set to pay the price for missing stars

Canada have made huge strides forward over the last few years but the absence of stars such as Alphonso Davies, Jonathan David and Cyle Larin has made for a disappointing showing so far.

They managed just one win in three group games and, after veteran goalkeeper Milan Borjan picked up an injury, inexperienced Minnesota United stopper Dayne St. Clair will now have to face the prolific United States attackers.

One of the forwards who should help the United States to a comfortable win is Jesus Ferreira. The 22-year-old FC Dallas striker has scored back-to-back hat-tricks for his country and has 11 goals across his last 11 appearances for club and country. Back him to get on the scoresheet along with a home win and a repeat of the 2-0 scoreline we saw in the Nations League last month.
