USA vs Haiti Predictions

Gold Cup hosts USA can start with a bang

The USA begin their Gold Cup campaign in the early hours of Monday morning as they take on Haiti at Children’s Mercy Park.

The host nation are looking to go one better after defeat in the 2019 Gold Cup final to Mexico, and they should be able to make a winning start against a Haiti side ranked at 86 in the world by Fifa.

The Stars and Stripes have been in excellent form in 2021 with six wins from seven games.  Gregg Berghalter’s men were beaten in a friendly fixture in Switzerland in May, slipping to a 2-1 defeat after taking an early lead, but gave a good account of themselves against a team who went on to reach the quarter finals at Euro 2020.

The USA have an excellent record on home soil and have nine straight wins in the States going into this game.  They have scored an impressive 42 goals over the course of those nine games, conceding just seven in the process.

Haiti did win both of their qualifiers comfortably, seeing off Saint Vincent and the Grenadines 6-1 before a 4-1 win over Bermuda, but have fallen short when up against stronger opposition having lost 4-0 on aggregate to Canada in a World Cup qualifying play-off earlier this year.

The hosts will be eager to make a big statement in their Gold Cup opener and we’re expecting a convincing win for the USA.  The Americans have scored at least four goals in seven of their last nine home games and tend to be a team that shows no mercy even when the game is put to bed so we’re going for the USA with a -2 handicap and an ambitious 5-0 bet in the correct score market.
