Utrecht vs Twente Predictions

• Utrecht failed to win five of their last six games as pre-match favourites.
• No side picked up more points than Twente’s 13 across the last five rounds.

Utrecht may miss the home support

After disappointing punters as pre-match favourites so often of late, it is difficult to gauge just how long to stick with such a side. However, the form now shows that Utrecht are on a downwards spiral and could even drop out of their European play-off spot should they fail again here.

Compounding matters for the hosts will be the lack of home support in this game and the fact that their manager, Rene Hake, failed to win in three of his four personal H2Hs with Twente (D1, L2).

Even with the numerous aggravating factors, Utrecht are the only remaining unbeaten home side in the Eredivisie this term, which is why I could not be so brash as to back the outright away win.

Terrific Twente to roll on

The imperious form of Twente means that they will end this calendar year in the play-off positions no matter what, though they could consolidate that against one of their direct rivals if only they can snap a six-game losing run of away H2Hs to break their unbeaten record here.

Only Ajax, PSV and Vitesse can boast a stronger away record than Ron Jans’ Twente ahead of this round and they are in buoyant form following a run of three straight away league wins. As such, that confidence and momentum could carry them forward in this empty Galgenwaard.

Finally, I predict a 2-1 Twente win, but I will back them in the draw no bet market to give me both value and insurance against another battling Utrecht performance at home.
