      Valencia vs Ajax Predictions

Champions League Group H’s early pacesetters Valencia and Ajax go head-to-head in Spain on Wednesday where both clubs will be aiming to follow up their match day one victories with another on match day two.

Valencia produced one of the shock results of the opening round of UCL fixtures two weeks ago, when they snatched maximum points in a 1-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

That result kicked off a four-match unbeaten streak for Los Ches, and in their most recent outing at the weekend, Valencia showed their resolve once again in a 1-0 La Liga triumph at high-flying Athletic Bilbao.

Valencia have already shown that they are a tough nut to crack, and at the Mestalla, they have been close to unbeatable over the past 12 months. In the 27 competitive matches Valencia have contested on their own patch since November last year, Los Ches were beaten only twice.

Their opponents this week Ajax, arrive in southern Spain fresh from six wins from seven, and in typical style, the Dutch champions have been scoring plenty, hitting 27 goals in just eight Eredivisie games en-route to topping the early standings.

Ajax opened their Champions League account for the season with a comfortable 3-0 win over Lille in Amsterdam, though goals are usually a little harder to come by in UCL away games for Erik ten Hag’s men.

Last season’s beaten semi finalists scored two or fewer goals in eight of their last nine Champions League away fixtures, so we shouldn’t expect a deluge of Ajax goals at Valencia this week.

Another notable pattern in Ajax’s Champions League away games has been the prevalence of both teams scoring.

Both teams registered in 14 of their last 18 UCL away matches (qualification games and tournament proper), and that’s where we feel the value lies for Wednesday’s fixture.

That same pattern of both teams scoring is also identifiable in Valencia’s Champions League matches at the Mestalla Stadium, where each side had registered in 12 of the last 16 games in Europe’s premier club football competition.

Alongside our both teams to score forecast, we’re tipping Valencia and Ajax to share the spoils in a 1-1 draw for our correct score prediction.

The Dutch giants finished level in six of their last ten Champions League away games, while Valencia’s excellent record at home over the past year suggests that Ajax will find it hard to turn one point into three.
