      Valencia vs Rapid Vienna Predictions

With 20 minutes to go on Saturday, Gary Neville must have felt as though he was about to lose his job without having picked up a single league win. They trailed 1-0 at home to a poor Espanyol side but late goals from Alvaro Negredo and Denis Cheryshev secured a crucial 2-1 win and something small to build on.

That was the perfect tonic coming into this match and the Europa League looks like the only way Valencia will be able to salvage anything from this season so we can expect a very strong side from them. They have won 4 cup matches under Neville and will fancy their chances of progressing here.

Rapid Wien though should not be underestimated. They won their group by winning 5 of their 6 games and their two matches against Valencia’s neighbours, Villarreal, ended in a 2-1 win and 1-0 defeat so they have proved they can mix it with opposition from La Liga.

They’ve won both Bundesliga games since returning from the winter break by 3-0 margins and are currently level on points with Salzburg at the top and they do score quite a few goals.

Given Valencia have gone 14 league games without a clean sheet it is obvious they are susceptible at the back and Rapid will be looking to exploit that here as they look for a crucial away goal.

Both teams scored in 12 of Rapid Wien’s last 14 matches in 2015 and in 4 of their 6 group games and you can back that to be the case at 3/4 here.

Buoyed by their win on Saturday which could prove a pivotal moment in their season, they should nick this and are available at 7/1 to win 2-1.
