Real Salt Lake 1-0 @ 17/2

Reason For Vancouver Whitecaps vs Real Salt Lake Predictions

  • Whitecaps are the Western Conference’s lowest scorers this season (18 goals).
  • Three of the last four meetings between Whitecaps and Real saw under 2.5 goals scored.
  • Salt Lake averaged 1.0 goals per 90 minutes in their last five MLS matches.

Rapids in the groove

Two of the Western Conference’s bottom three face off on Sunday when Real Salt Lake host Vancouver Whitecaps in an MLS basement battle at Providence Park in Oregan.

Whitecaps’ boss Marc Dos Santos has numerous problems to contend with ahead of his team’s latest test this weekend. The Vancouver manager watched his side lose for the fourth time on the spin at SJ Earthquakes last time out, where his toothless outfit failed to find the net for the third time during the same period.

To compound his misery, both Andy Rose and Erik Godoy were sent off in San Jose, making them unavailable for Vancouver’s clash with Real Salt Lake on Sunday.

Real meanwhile had positives to take from their 2-1 reverse at league leaders Sounders last weekend, though their eventual defeat did extend their dismal run which now reads just two wins in 10.

It’s worth noting that the only two efforts Salt Lake notched in their last three games were both own goals – something that shines a light on their continuing problems in the final third.

With goals per game averages of 1.1 and 1.3 respectively this term, both Vancouver and Salt Lake are among the least threatening teams in the entire MLS, and we expect that to be reflected in the final scoreline at Providence Park on Sunday.

Under 2.5 goals were scored in three of the last four encounters between Vancouver and Salt Lake, and the same market looks well worth considering again here, while our correct score prediction backs Real to eke out a 1-0 win.

With zero points and just one goal from their last four, and key players absent through suspension, Whitecaps look there for the taking, and Salt Lake can take advantage.
