Draw

Reason for tip

Vasco da Gama are unbeaten in six matches but may struggle to take maximum points against a side they have failed to beat in their last 20 meetings. The hosts have drawn their last two and Corinthians should be strong enough to take a point at Estadio Sao Januario.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Four of Corinthians’ last ten matches have finished 1-1 and the same outcome looks likely again. Hosts Vasco da Gama are on a run of two consecutive draws and they could be set to share the points once again on Wednesday.

Vasco Da Gama vs Corinthians Predictions

  • Corinthians have failed to lose any of their last 20 meetings with Vasco da Gama
  • Vasco da Gama are unbeaten in their last six matches

Spoils to be shared at Sao Januario

Just two points separate 13th-placed Corinthians and 15th-placed Vasco da Gama, with both sides within touching distance of both the Copa Sudamericana group stage places as well as the relegation zone in an extremely tight Brazilian Serie A.

With little to split the sides, a draw looks the most likely outcome when they meet in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Hosts Vasco arrive in better form than their visitors, having avoided defeat in their last six matches and beating third-placed Botafogo in that run, but they are far from a sure thing after drawing their last two matches and they have a truly horrendous record against their visitors.

Corinthians have not lost to Vasco in their last 20 meetings, with Cruzmaltino’s last win over Timao coming way back in 2010.

The visitors arrive in Rio de Janeiro with decent away form to boot too. Despite playing top half sides in their last four road games, they have taken seven points from a possible 12.

Their wins came over fifth-placed Gremio and ninth-placed Cuiaba and they should have enough about them to maintain their brilliant unbeaten streak against Vasco on Wednesday.

With both sides still in danger of relegation and simultaneously holding aspirations of qualifying for continental competition with just three games remaining, this could turn into a close match and the two clubs may have to settle for a point apiece.
