Lazio saw their five-game unbeaten run halted by a 1-0 Coppa Italia quarter-final defeat at Juventus on Thursday, a tight affair featuring few clear chances in which Gleison Bremer’s header was the difference. In Serie A, however, Lazio are still unbeaten in four matches, and the top-four challengers will be hopeful of maintaining their decent run when they visit struggling Verona on Monday.

Lazio have posted two wins and two draws in their last four league games, putting nine goals past Empoli, Sassuolo, Milan and Fiorentina in that sequence. Maurizio Sarri’s men have been strong on the road this campaign, only losing at Lecce and Juventus in back-to-back pre-World Cup fixtures and taking 17 points from nine away trips – only three teams, all of whom have played additional matches, have fared better. Lazio recorded a routine 2-0 win over Verona earlier this season, and though the Gialloblu have improved since then, the visitors are clear favourites for Monday’s fixture.

Verona have beaten fellow strugglers Lecce and Cremonese since the World Cup to haul themselves to within five points of safety, making clear improvements under Marco Zaffaroni, who has only experienced defeat against Inter since taking charge. However, no Serie A side has conceded more than their 17 goals shipped at home this term, and victories against rock-bottom Cremonese and a Lecce team experiencing a four-match winless run are no indication they will be able to tame Lazio.

Visitors worth backing at decent price

Prices slightly better than evens around a Lazio win are appealing ahead of Monday’s game, with Sarri’s men winning five of their nine away matches in Serie A this term and welcoming captain Ciro Immobile back from injury in recent weeks.
