Vikingur Reykjavik vs Keflavik Predictions
Can Keflavik manage to boost their awful Urvalsdeild form when they visit Vikingur this weekend? Friday’s Urvalsdeild clash pits the struggling bottom side against Vikingur, who are stuttering along in mid-table. The visitors are currently bottom of the pile in the league, and they’re struggling to compete at the highest level after getting promoted from the second tier last term. Can they turn things around this weekend, or will Vikingur become the latest side to claim all three points against the strugglers?
The hosts are up in to the top half of the league, after a victory over Flykir last weekend. They are aiming to follow up their win over IBV in their last home game, and continue their move away from the drop zone. This does seem to be an opportunity for the hosts to continue that form, as they’re heavy favourites to claim a win against Keflavik this weekend.
The visitors have averaged just 0.27 points per game in the league this season, and they sit nine point shy of safety already. They’re unlikely to boost that form after an awful start, which has seen them score just seven times in 11 matches. That makes them the lowest scoring side in the league, while they’re also comfortably bottom of the form table. Those are all good omens for Vikingur, who will be hunting for a third straight victory this week. They have secured 75% of their points so far in their last four matches, while the hosts have been a tough side to break down at home.
Vikingur have conceded just 25% of their goals this season at home, with their struggles coming on the road. They’re likely to come out of Friday’s match with a clean sheet, given that the visitors have lost to nil in 55% of their league games so far. Their struggles to score have led to more than a few dull games for Keflavik on the road, with 60% of their trips seeing under 2.5 goals scored.
Keflavik have yet to concede more than two goals on the road this term, while the hosts have claimed all four of their league wins by a single goal. The hosts have seen under 2.5 goals scored in 60% of their matches at home, so we can’t see this being a high scoring game. We’re going for a home win, with VIkingur priced up as heavy favourites. However, we think the value in this one lies with backing Vikingur to win a low scoring clash, as a home win with fewer than three goals to be scored is our tip.
