Villarreal vs Girona Predictions

Villarreal hoping to respond

Villarreal suffered a galling defeat in the Copa del Rey on Thursday night, when they let a two goal lead slip in losing 3-2 to Real Madrid, who netted an 86th minute winner.

That was the fourth time in their last five fixtures that a Yellow Submarine match has contained at least three goals.

It will be interesting to see how they respond to that loss, but they have been strong at home of late, winning five of their last seven La Liga outings at La Ceramica, with four of those wins containing more than two strikes.

Can Girona spring a shock?

Visitors Girona are another team who have seen plenty of goal action in their last few matches, with six of their last seven outings containing at least three strikes.

They generally struggle on the road though, winning just one of their eight outings, with five of the last six in La Liga containing in excess of two goals.

Michel’s side are actually unbeaten in five league outings, each of which have seen three goals netted as a minimum, but they have managed just one point on the road against teams in the top five.

I predict that there will be three or more goals in this game, with 3-1 to Villarreal my correct score prediction.
