Juventus 1-0

Dusan Vlahovic To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Dusan Vlahovic’s four goals this season make him the most prolific player in Serie A, and mean he has scored a remarkable two-thirds of Juventus’ goals since the restart.

Fiorentina vs Juventus Predictions

  • Fiorentina have failed to score in each of their last four matches.
  • Juventus have won three of their last four head-to-head meetings with the Viola to nil.
  • Juventus have kept three clean sheets in their four league games this term.

Fiorentina’s attacking woes continue

The goals have well and truly dried up for Vincenzo Italiano’s Fiorentina, who have failed to net in four consecutive games after falling to a 1-0 defeat at Udinese last time out. That poor run represents a real concern for a side which earnt a reputation for playing entertaining football last term, and things may not get much better when they host rivals Juventus on Saturday.

Being shutout by an Udinese team which had struggled for clean sheets does not bode well for the Viola, who have created just 4.2 expected goals (xG) so far this term – less than they have conceded (4.3). Meanwhile, Fiorentina met Juventus on four occasions last season – including twice in the Coppa Italia semi-finals – and were beaten to nil on three occasions.

Meanwhile, for all the criticism of Juventus’ attacking returns, they have kept three clean sheets in their first four games of the season – only conceding to early leaders Roma to give them Serie A’s joint-best defensive record. Massimiliano Allegri’s men have seen under 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five games, and only four Serie A teams have allowed their opponents to create fewer expected goals (2.9 xGA) this season. They should prove a tough nut to crack at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Bianconeri to deepen Viola’s woes

Given Fiorentina’s dreadful attacking returns in recent weeks, a solid Juventus rearguard – boosted by the arrival of last season’s Serie A Defender of the Year Gleison Bremer – should be able to keep them out en route to victory.

A repeat of Juve’s 1-0 win in Florence in early March looks a strong correct score prediction. Former Viola man Dusan Vlahovic, meanwhile, has hit four of Juventus’ six goals this season and is, as ever, an outstanding anytime goalscorer pick.
