Villarreal vs Real Betis Betting Tips

These two sides are at opposite ends of the form table. Villarreal have won all of their last 6 matches in the league and their Copa del Rey exit in midweek against Athletic Bilbao is already looking like a blessing in disguise given the Basques have been paired with Barcelona in the next round.

Real Betis were also sent packing from the Copa del Rey after a humiliating 6-0 aggregate defeat against bitter city rivals Sevilla. Juan Merino takes caretaker charge of this one as he did in midweek but Betis are without a win in 9 matches and without a goal in 6 so it’s hard to see them troubling Villarreal here.

Real Betis have lost all of their last 5 matches by an aggregate score of 15-0 and given Villarreal have won 10 of their last 12 home league games and haven’t conceded in any of the last 3, backing Villarreal to win this to nil at 13/10 certainly appeals.

They aren’t the sort of side to win big though and their success this season has come from their ability to consistently grind out victories rather than blow teams away. They haven’t scored more than 2 goals in any of their last 15 matches in the league.

Villarreal therefore look well worth a punt at 11/2 to win this one 2-0 as they did last weekend when another newly promoted side Sporting Gijon visited El Madrigal.
