Watford vs Stoke Predictions
Watford’s focus will have well and truly shifted after their weekend exploits. They managed to eliminate FA Cup holders Arsenal at the Emirates to set themselves up for a semi final match against Crystal Palace. An FA Cup Final is well within their reach at the moment, and considering some of their performances this season they are certainly not out of the running to win the trophy.
They have 37 points in the Premier League, and their 14th position in the table leaves them almost guaranteed of being safe from relegation this season, so it’s no prizes for guessing where their priorities will lie.
Watford have only won one of their last six Premier League matches though, and seven of their last 12 outings in the league have ended in defeat for them.
Stoke are looking at their best ever Premier League season at the moment. Currently 9th is their best finishing position, and they currently occupy that position, but Liverpool are just a point above them and a win on Saturday could see them move as high as 7th and to within a point of Manchester United.
Stoke did what they have done so many times this season when they played Southampton last weekend. They seemed to be completely different sides in the first and second half, with the first half seeing Southampton take a two goal lead thanks to some very sloppy defending and goalkeeping and the second half seeing Marko Arnautovic get Stoke back into the game and them pushing Southampton for an equaliser.
They ended up losing this match, but their recent record stands at three wins, one draw, and one defeat in their last five outings. Interestingly, Stoke have won at least one half in every one of these games.
This statistics makes odds of 1/1 for Stoke to Win Either Half look very good value, so I’m backing that along with a 2-1 win for the visitors at 12/1.
