- Hannover 96 lost seven of their final nine 2. Bundesliga games last season.
- Hannover picked up just three points away to top-half 2. Bundesliga opposition in 2021.
Die Werderaner set for winning start
A late-season collapse saw Werder Bremen drop down to the 2. Bundesliga for the first time in 40 years but Die Werderaner look in good shape to mount an immediate push for the second-tier title and that can begin with a win over Hannover on Saturday.
They have lost a few key players such as Milot Rashica, Theodor Gebre Selassi and Niklas Moisander but their squad is strong for this level and new manager Markus Anfang has plenty of 2. Bundesliga experience.
On the other side of the Weserstadion pitch sits a Hannover 96 side that showed little sign of returning to the big time last season. They followed up a sixth-place finish in their first season back in the 2. Bundesliga with a 13th-place finish last term and the end of that campaign was worrying to say the least.
They lost seven of their last nine 2. Bundesliga outings and conceded 20 goals in the process. Away from home they managed just four points from their final six games and their only away points in 2021 against top-half opposition came all the way back in mid-January against Darmstadt.
It certainly doesn’t bode well for them as they open their new campaign against a side expected to challenge for the title, so a Werder Bremen win along with a 2-0 correct score prediction looks appealing.
