West Ham vs Arsenal Predictions

West Ham’s struggles continued in midweek as they faced Manchester United for the second time in just four days. They managed to earn a draw at Old Trafford last weekend, but Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Anthony Martial scored two apiece to comfortably knock the Hammers out of the League Cup.

This extended West Ham’s winless streak to five matches in all competitions, a run which has pushed them back down to 16th position in the Premier League after a resurgent three match winning streak in October.

To make matters worse for West Ham they have lost top scorer Michail Antonio to injury, and now their top scorer is Manuel Lanzini with three goals to his name. He is now the only fit player in the squad with more than one goal to his name.

Arsenal aren’t strangers to the injury crisis either, and the news that Santi Cazorla has been ruled out for four months will have hit the Gunners hard. Still, they have a host of in form and talented players to make up for his absence. Alexis Sanchez netted two last weekend against Bournemouth to make it eight league goals and two in the Champions League this season. Five of these eight league goals have come away from home, so he looks the best option for our anytime goalscorer predictions at 1/1.

Arsenal’s excellent unbeaten streak came to an end in midweek though as a youthful League Cup team lost 2-0 at home to Southampton. This is Arsenal’s first defeat since the opening day of the season, with 13 wins and six draws making up their 19 games since.

In the Premier League they remain unbeaten in 12 games though and sit just a point behind leaders Chelsea in 3rd position. Away from home they have won five of their last six and they haven’t lost on the road since a 3-1 defeat to Barcelona in March.

Considering this excellent away form and West Ham’s troubles at their new stadium this season I think the advantage clearly lies with Arsenal. Backing them to win at 3/4 looks a good option, and I’m also going for a 3-1 correct score predictions at 12/1.
