West Ham United vs Crystal Palace Predictions
- West Ham have won six straight home games
- Crystal Palace are winless away from home in the league this term
- The Eagles lost 3-0 at Everton in their last trip
- Jarrod Bowen has scored in three of his last four games at the London Stadium
West Ham looking strong
Having slumped from a European finish last season to 13th place in the table, West Ham’s season doesn’t exactly look impressive. However, their early standing isn’t entirely accurate, especially with the hosts now hitting their stride.
The Hammers sealed top spot in their Europa Conference League group after winning six games, which has boosted their confidence after a slow league start. However, Expected Goals data pegs the Hammers in the top six this term, so their recent upturn in form suggests they are back to their best.
Palace struggling on the road
While West Ham are in great shape, the visitors make this trip having struggled of late. Crystal Palace are winless in their last seven Premier League away games, while their players have scored just two away goals in this campaign.
The Eagles have put together a three-game winning streak at home but they’ve failed to score in their last three league trips. They head here having failed to beat West Ham in their last four attempts, while their last away game brought a 3-0 defeat at Everton.
Hammers to prove too strong
The London Stadium is becoming something of a fortress for West Ham, as they’ve won their last six home games. They’ve seen off Wolves, Fulham and Bournemouth in a three-game winning streak at home in the league, so fixtures have certainly fallen kindly for them. However, off the back of that run it’s not a stretch to see them beating Palace.
The visitors’ lack of scoring threat on the road is a concern given the attacking options West Ham have. They can now rotate between Michail Antonio and Gianluca Scamacca up top, while Jarrod Bowen is in fantastic form for the Hammers. He’s scored in three of his last four home games, so he is good value for a goal on Sunday.
I’m backing Bowen to strike in a West Ham win, while Palace’s scoring woes factor in as well. The hosts have won to nil in three of their last four games, so a 2-0 victory is my correct score prediction.
