Western Sydney Wanderers vs Melbourne City Predictions
Western Sydney Wanderers managed to get back to winning ways last weekend as they beat Central Coast Mariners, a result which allowed them to return to the top of the Hyundai A-League.
They had been dislodged from the top spot by Brisbane Roar in recent weeks, but their defeat and Western Sydney Wanderers’ win allowed them to reclaim the top spot.
This win was just their 2nd in their last six matches though, with two defeats and two draws ending their impressive run of seven victories on the trot.
But Melbourne City are close on their tail. They sit in 2nd position with 28 points from their opening 16 A-League matches, level on points with 3rd placed Brisbane Roar and two points adrift of Western Sydney Wanderers in 1st.
Melbourne City’s leapfrogging of Brisbane Roar is thanks to their win on Monday. They comprehensively beat Wellington Phoenix 3-1 to make it four games unbeaten in the Hyundai A-League.
This makes it just one defeat in their last ten A-League matches, with six of these games ending in victory for Melbourne City.
However, they have struggled to pick up three points in recent weeks, with only two of their last five games seeing them leave with maximum points.
Each of Melbourne City’s last nine league matches has seen three or more goals scored, and their attacking tactics are evident when you realise that both teams have hit the back of the net in eight of these nine games.
Western Sydney Wanderers also adopt an offensive approach. Four of their last six outings have seen both sides score in matches with more than two goals scored.
Odds of 4/6 for Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score may look a bit short, but I think they offer a good amount of value given both sides’ penchant for attacking play. This is what I’m backing, and I’m also going for a 2-2 correct score prediction at 11/1.
