Wigan vs Crewe Predictions

• Of Wigan’s five defeats in League One, only one has come to a team in the bottom half
• Crewe have only scored 11 goals in their 16 away matches

Wigan aiming for breathing space

Only two points separate Wigan in second place and the League One play-off positions, but they have games in hand on every team in the division and this is the perfect opportunity to pick up another victory.

The Latics have already accumulated eight victories on home soil, losing just three times and keeping clean sheets in half of those wins.

Leam Richardson’s side beat Charlton at the weekend, that off the back of successive defeats (to Stoke in the FA Cup and at Sheffield Wednesday), but at the DW Stadium they are unbeaten in ten, winning seven.

Crewe running out of time

A harrowing 4-1 loss to Accrington on Saturday was Crewe’s fifth straight defeat and leaves them in 23rd place in League One, nine points from safety with just 15 games remaining.

David Artell’s side are statistically the worst away team in the division, winning just once in 16 games and scoring only 11 goals – only Doncaster and Shrewsbury have netted fewer (10).

The Railwaymen have lost their last four on the road, failing to score in two of those games, while only two of their six away points have come against teams in the top half of the table.

If Wigan fail to win this game, it will be a massive upset. I predict the Latics will pick up the three points and do so without conceding, selecting 3-0 as a correct score prediction.
