Wigan vs QPR Predictions

• The Latics’ last five league home games have all featured fewer than three goals
• QPR have won just one of their 12 league away games

Struggling pair may be hard to split

This is a clash between two Championship teams who are in desperate form and  with both struggling to remember what winning felt like, it would be no surprise if they finished level when they meet on Saturday.

Wigan’s situation is more desperate as they have an eight-point gap to make up on fourth-from-bottom Cardiff and it looks likely that the Latics will be making an immediate return to League One.

But if they are to stay up, this is just the sort of game they should be looking to win and manager Shaun Maloney may grab some crumbs of comfort for QPR visit from the fact his side are unbeaten in their last four home matches.

Three of those have been draws and it is worth noting that while that they have not been full of goals, despite the fact this is a clash between the second tier’s two leakiest defences.

There is not quite enough faith for us to make the prediction of a home win, but QPR are probably grateful they enjoy a six-point cushion above the relegation zone.

Gareth Ainsworth is now steering the ship but Rangers have lost seven of their last eight games and were thumped 6-1 at Blackpool the last time they were on their travels.

So both sides will see this as a good chance to revive their fortunes, but they could struggle to achieve their aims, so we predict a 1-1 draw in Saturday’s clash.
