Wigan vs Shrewsbury Predictions
Shrews to struggle against bogey team
Wigan are worth backing to get a home win over Shrewsbury on Saturday, with the visitors having lost their last three League One away games.
Wigan are 16th in League One, eight places and 12 points above Shrewsbury, who are bottom of the table with three wins and 14 losses this season.
Shrewsbury are struggling under manager Gareth Ainsworth.
They lost 4-1 to Wycombe on Saturday, having gone down by the same scoreline to Cambridge United two weeks ago in their last League One away game. That is now seven defeats in eight and Shrewsbury will head to Wigan fearing the worst against opponents who tend to have the upper hand in these matchups.
Wigan have avoided defeat in nine of their last ten League One games against Shrewsbury, and they can secure a home win on Saturday.
Wigan have been solid defensively at home this season, conceding just seven goals in nine League One games – an average of 0.8 goals per game.
In contrast, Shrewsbury have shipped goals on all nine of their league away days and have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 12 League One games on the road.
Wigan, are looking for a third straight home victory over Shrewsbury, beat Bolton 2-0 away in their last fixture, and that will have boosted the morale of Shaun Maloney’s side.
Wigan have been winners by a two-goal margin in two of the last three meetings against Shrewsbury and a 3-1 home win is an attractive correct-score bet.
