AFC Wimbledon vs Portsmouth Predictions
Wimbledon’s 1-0 loss at Hartlepool on Friday saw them fail to build on the previous victory that got them out of their winless streak, and ensured that their recent record remains very unimpressive.
They have now lost four, drawn two, and won one of their last seven matches in League Two. This is a stark contrast to the run of form immediately preceding this in which they won seven and lost one over a run of eight games.
It’s put their playoff credentials in serious jeopardy too. Wimbledon are now four points adrift of 6th place Wycome in 9th, and the top five are 11 points clear of them.
Portsmouth are in 6th position with a seven point advantage over their opponents, and a win could set up a seven point cushion within the crucial playoff positions as we head into the end game of the League Two season.
The visitors are in pretty decent form as well. They have won four and lost just one of their last seven matches in League Two, although away from home they are struggling to find all three points. Portsmouth have only won two of their last nine away days in all competitions, with five of these ending all square.
Despite their poor form Wimbledon have been finding the back of the net often enough. They have only failed to score in two of their last 15 outings in League Two, while Portsmouth have hit the back of the net in 16 of their last 17 trips away. This makes odds of 5/6 for Both Teams to Score excellent value for money, and I’m going for a 2-1 win for Portsmouth at 17/2 as well.
