No team has taken more National League points than Southend in 2022. Since the turn of the year The Shrimpers have taken 19 points from a possible 21, a tally which can only be matched and not bettered by league leaders Stockport. Kevin Maher’s men are in fine form and midweek’s win at home to Bromley extended Southend’s unbeaten run in the league to nine matches. Southend can currently be backed at 9/4 and they seem overpriced for Saturday’s visit to Woking.

Woking have put it in reverse of late

Woking’s form, in stark contrast to Southend, has fallen off a cliff lately. Woking have won just one of their five games since the beginning of the year; this poor run extends to two wins in their last ten. In their last ten league games Woking have mustered just eight points. In comparison, Saturday’s visitors have amassed 21 points from their last ten. These two sides could hardly be in more differing form.

I am having a hard time working out why Southend are a full point bigger than Woking in this one and as such am more than happy to put the away side as the main selection. Southend to win is the main pick, a fairly confident one at that. Southend were 2-0 victors against Bromley on Tuesday, and I will chance a repeat of this score line as my correct score prediction.
