Wolfsburg vs Cologne Predictions

  • Wolfsburg have failed to win five of their last six Bundesliga home games.
  • Cologne have avoided defeat in four of their last six Bundesliga away games.
  • Wolfsburg have won only two of their last 11 Bundesliga matches and have lost their last five in all competitions.

Woeful Wolves shouldn’t be so short

It’s a great time for any team to be playing Wolfsburg right now and Cologne should be able to avoid defeat to the hosts at the Volkswagen Arena on Tuesday. The Wolves have lost five straight games in all competitions and again lacked a cutting edge in a 2-0 home defeat to Stuttgart on Saturday when Lukas Nmecha missed a couple of presentable opportunities.

To see them as short as a shade of odds against in the match betting looks very wrong given the moment of form they are enduring and it looks safer to back the visitors to avoid defeat in this. Florian Kohfeldt’s side have won only two of their last 11 Bundesliga matches and have failed to win five of their last six Bundesliga home games.

Visitors Cologne have avoided defeat in four of their last six Bundesliga away games and two of their three road losses this season came in Munich and Dortmund.

Billy Goats’ form looks good for a result

Their recent form is pretty encouraging with the underlying stats suggest Cologne had the better of draws with Hertha Berlin and Mainz prior to their 4-1 thrashing of Borussia Monchengladbach late last month. The subsequent draw with Arminia Bielefeld and defeat to Augsburg were both close contests that could have gone either way, so confidence should not be an issue with the visitors.

As well as taking the Billy Goats in the double chance market, we’re forecasting a 1-1 draw in this. That would match the score in four of the last six Cologne away contests and it’s also the most frequent outcome in the last 20 years of matches between the clubs.
