Wolverhampton vs Sevilla Predictions

  • Sevilla have drawn nine of their last 18 competitive matches.
  • Wolves have only lost two of their 16 Europa League matches this season.
  • Wolves have only lost four of their last 18 games in all competitions.
  • Three of Sevilla’s last nine draws have ended 1-1, while two of Wolves’ last three draws have been 1-1.

Wolves eye up Champions League qualification

An early Raul Jimenez goal put Wolves through to their first European Quarter Final since the 1971/72 UEFA Cup last week, with a 2-1 aggregate score settling the tie and setting up a clash against Europa League specialists Sevilla.

With Wolves missing out on a spot in the Premier League top four, this competition is there only chance of achieving Champions League qualification, but Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have struggled at times since the restart.

That being said, Wolves still managed to win six of their ten games since the resumption of football and can class this campaign as an overwhelming success. They have lost only four of their last 18 competitive games and have avoided defeat in 14 of their 16 Europa League outings in a campaign that stretches back to July 2019.

Sevilla target more Europa League success

Sevilla are not an opponent to be taken lightly, however. The Spaniards have won the Europa League three times in the last six years and come into this match unbeaten in all competitions since February. Still, they have failed to make the Semi-Finals in each of the last two seasons and face a very tough Wolves outfit on Tuesday.

Sevilla may be undefeated in 18 games, but they do sometimes struggle to actually win games. They have drawn nine of these 18 matches and, while they did finish the La Liga season very strongly, it’s worth noting that they have won just three of their last 11 trips away from the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.

Closely fought tie expected in Duisburg

The La Liga outfit have also failed to win three of their last four matches in the Europa League, so backing a Wolves win or draw double chance is an attractive option for this tie in Duisburg.

We’re not expecting an outright Wolves win though. Sevilla have drawn half of their last 18 matches and two of their last three in Europa. Three of these draws have ended 1-1, and with two of Wolves’ last three stalemates also ending 1-1 we fancy that for our correct score prediction.
