Yeovil Town vs Northampton Predictions

With the busy Christmas period on our doorstep, sides in League Two will all be desperate to pick up some momentum as they enter into a few weeks with plenty of football to get through. Two of those sides looking for a boost in their recent form are Yeocil Town and Northampton Town, and the sides have the opportunity to get their festive period off to an excellent start when they collide this weekend.

It has been a difficult few weeks for Yeovil Town and although they were able to claim a point against Cambridge United last time out, that represents their only point in their last five league matches. The hosts know that there is plenty of work to do for the side to improve at both ends of the pitch as Yeovil have conceded nine times in their last five matches whilst scoring a poultry two goals.

Northampton Town have only lost one of their last eight League Two matches but remain 14th in the table ahead of the trip to Yeovil Town. The visitors claimed a credible 1-1 draw with Stevenage last time out following their first League Two victory in four attempts away at Crawley Town prior to that. The Cobblers have picked up form since the appointment of Keith Curle and they are now sitting comfortably eight points outside the relegation spaces. Despite this, the Cobblers will have their sights set higher and they know that if they are to make a charge up the tables then they will have to improve on an offensive record which has seen them score just three times in their previous three league matches.

The hosts have had a difficult time of it of late and they know that if they are to come out of this slump, then they are going to have to keep things tight at the back. Given that their visitors are hardly known for being the most clinical in the division, we predict a rather tight affair and with this in mind, we think backing there to be less than 2.5 goals scored represents the best opportunity for a decent return.
