Sunday’s Brazilian Serie A action sees America Mineiro doing battle with Fluminense. The hosts will be looking to pick up the three points against what’s expected to be a heavily rotated Fluminense starting eleven; with visiting eyes currently on continental affairs.

With this fixture marking the halfway point of the season; it’s so far, so good as far as America Mineiro are concerned. Coelho came into the campaign as big favourites to suffer an immediate return to Serie B, as they did back in 2016, but have exceeded expectations, currently sitting in 11th place, 3 points clear of the drop zone.

Ultimately, in normal circumstances we’d view this as a closely matched affair but the amount of football Fluminense are having to play at the moment will surely take it’s toll. Even if Oliveira does end up going full strength, Fluminense are hardly the most convincing outfit on their travels, having lost 5 of their 9 away games so far. We like the look of backing America to win at more than reasonable odds. They’re quite a powerful home force and we can see them claiming maximum points via a 2-0 margin of victory.
