West Ham United vs Manchester United Predictions
- West Ham have scored two or more goals in five successive matches
- Manchester United have won four on the bounce under Michael Carrick
- The Red Devils are without a clean-sheet in 13 away matches across all competitions this season
In-form pair set for capital showdown
Two improving sides will meet at the London Stadium on Tuesday night as West Ham welcome Manchester United to the capital.
The Hammers have won four of their last five matches across all competitions, with Saturday’s 2-0 success at fellow strugglers Burnley moving them to within three points of safety.
United, meanwhile, have picked up four victories from four under interim head coach Michael Carrick to underline their Champions League qualification hopes, while they were 3-2 winners at league leaders Arsenal on their most recent away trip.
Both teams can have their say
With both teams in form and in need of the points, it is difficult to pick out a winner, but goals should be guaranteed, with West Ham having scored in six on the bounce across all competitions, the five most recent of which have seen them net at least twice.
Keeping clean-sheets has been a long-term issue for the Hammers, as Saturday’s shut out against Burnley was their first in 23 matches across all competitions since they won 3-0 at Nottingham Forest in August when current boss, Nuno Espirito Santo, was in charge of the opposition.
It is a similar story for Man Utd, who have scored in 15 straight games but are without a clean-sheet in 13 fixtures on their travels this season.
Of those 13 games, 10 have featured at least three goals, a trend that can continue on Tuesday with both teams expected to find the net.
Summerville to make it six on the bounce
These two sides played out a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford earlier this season but an even higher-scoring share could be on the cards in the capital, with the 2-2 correct score standing out.
There are plenty of standout options to get on the scoresheet, including Man Utd pair Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes, who both netted in Saturday’s 2-0 home success over Tottenham, but preference is for West Ham’s in-form winger Crysencio Summerville to find the back of the net
Summerville netted in the weekend win at Burnley and has now scored in five successive matches, a record that could extend to six when the Hammers welcome the Red Devils to the London Stadium.
